Nursing Home – Rehabilitation Addition/ Skilled Care Alteration
St. Clare Meadows, a 102 bed nursing home, recently undertook a major multi-phased renovation aimed at complementing the exceptional care provided by its staff. The first phase of this project was to construct a new rehabilitation wing building addition to create 22 private and 4 semi-private rooms thus decentralizing the existing building occupancy of the existing skilled care wings to improve the living environment for all residents. The first phase is arranged such that it can accommodate flexibility for the future to allow for the ever changing policies that confront every nursing home regarding reimbursement and census changes. Amenities also include a large therapy area that will accommodate in-house rehabilitation services as well as a new commercial grade laundry facility, staff training areas and ample storage space.
Four additional phases of construction are centered around remodeling the existing interior of the building to address issues of an aging infrastructure and modernize building functionality. By phasing the project impact to the operating census is minimal during construction. The four additional phases of remodeling are based upon a resident focused approach of culture change at St. Clare Meadows; this is achieved by decentralizing the nurse charting areas, creating a dining center for dining at will, providing dedicated activity areas, adding spa/therapeutic bathing areas, and creating an internal building courtyard complete with gazebo and wandering path.
