About Schroeder and Holt
Overview
Schroeder and Holt is a full service architecture, design and planning firm. Our firm specializes in commercial architecture, and while we provide solutions for many building types our emphasis is in retail architecture, motion picture cinemas and offices.
Our office is located in Milwaukee, WI and while we have many local projects, we are able to work nationwide. Currently we have active projects in 15 states and are registered in 37 states. Additionally, with our NCARB certification we can be licensed in the remaining states should the need arise.
At Schroeder and Holt, we recognize the importance of sustainable design and have LEED accredited professionals on staff to assess environmental impacts early in the design process in order to maximize efficiencies, conserve resources and reduce overall operating costs for our clients.
Firm History
The firm is a descendant of Rasche, Schroeder and Sprancy; a firm that grew to prominence in Milwaukee during the 1960’s. Howard E. Schroeder originated this firm in 1954 as Howard E. Schroeder Architectural. His first employee was Donald R. Holt, a young draftsman just out of college. In 1977, after the departure of Bob Rasche and Jack Sprancy; Don was asked to become a partner, thus forming the firm Schroeder and Holt Architects. Over time Schroeder and Holt Architects developed a prominent and loyal client base while working on many distinctive and successful building projects.
Schroeder and Holt Architects is currently operated by David C. Baum. Following the guidance of his predecessors, David is dedicated to maintaining the long standing relationships that were founded years ago.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is simple: Always deliver a successful project to our client. Successful projects are not only about great design but also about providing outstanding service throughout the lifespan of a project. This starts with informing the client at the start of a project on what to expect during the life of a project, partnering with them through the design process, and keeping them informed until the building’s grand opening.
This strategy is simple and is based on the belief that: “You are only as good as your last project”. This is not merely lip service, but an everyday promise. We feel this is a significant reason for our growth. As we have grown we have not lost sight of what we did to get here; our clients get the personalized service of a small firm with the resources of a large firm. Further evidence of this is that most of our new customers are through “word of mouth” and personal referrals rather than through an intense marketing campaign.
